Aaron
got his start helping his father
Bernard
D. Bell (1901 -1978)
Bernard
was a painter and a wallpaper contractor here in
Beloit.
In
the late 50's Aaron started working for Ken Peters,
also a painter but Ken was also doing a little bit of
drywall work. There was a story I heard growing up about
how Ken was one of the only guys that could step
over a 4 foot piece of sheetrock. I would have liked
to see that.
Ken's
sons are still going strong today.
After
Ken, Aaron
then started working for Bill Torrey.
Aaron will tell you that Bill was the man. Bill
took him under his wing and showed him all the tricks
of the trade including how to run the bazooka
(automatic taper). Everything that Aaron knows
he gives full credit to William Torrey.

In no time at all Aaron was
the best taper in this area. The bazooka was a pretty
new tool back then and Aaron was among a small handful
of people in the Country that could actually run it.
Aaron
was in demand, the best hanger, taper and finisher for miles around.
He worked for company's like New Century Drywall, R
& R Drywall, Rogers Drywall,
Bud Kutzke. Eventually he
got all of his brothers and close friends into the drywall
business. Over the years
Aaron has trained everybody who is anybody in this area.
If he didn't train you, then somebody that he trained
probably did.
Here
are some Bell's Aaron introduced to drywall.
Brothers
(These guys are Drywall Legends)
:
Chuck Bell, Jack
Bell, Denny Bell, Karl Bell
Denny Bell
Jr., Clint Bell and myself, Mike Bell
Look
at almost any drywall company in this
area, one way or another, they all lead back to
Aaron.
Aaron
trained Cy Lucchesi (Cy Lucchessi Drywall),
Cy
trained his son Cy Jr. (Cy Lucchessi Jr. Drywall) and
Brian Wolf (Wolf Drywall),
Aaron
trained the Millers of (Wall-Pro Drywall)
Jerry
Miller trained Rich Mauerman, Rich Najdowski of (Superior
Drywall)
Today Aaron is semi retired
but still likes to do smaller jobs.
Remodels, Patches, Water damage
and additions.
I'm
real proud of my dad and the legacy he created.
